About the Reading Club - *you do NOT have to like or even read The Percy Jackson books to participate in the competitive part of this program*.
The Camp Half-Blood Reading Club will run the duration of the summer, from July 1st – August 31st.
If you are a fan of Rick Riordan’s Olympians and want to sort yourself into a Cabin for your reading to represent, select which Cabin you want your reading to go towards – Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Hermes, Dionysus, Hades, Iris, Hypnos, Nemesis, Nike, Hebe, Tyche, Hecate. Here's a breakdown of the Camp Cabins. *If you're NOT a Percy Jackson fan, don't worry about choosing a Cabin, we will sort you at random*.
Keep track of the books you read AND the number of pages in the books - the pages read will be your Cabin points. Giving a brief review of the book(s) will get you bonus points for your Cabin.
Participants can submit their reading until August 31st. We will announce the winning Cabin the following week, and present prizes for the top readers in each Cabin.
Keeping Track of Your Reading - choose one of the following methods:
- Fill out the form available online (for each book you read).
- Email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, grade (or age if you are in the Adult Reading Club), Cabin, book title, number of pages, and a review of the book (optional).
- Write down the information and submit it in an envelope at the library.
We'll post weekly updates on Cabin Points, so participants can see how well their Cabin is doing - and if they need to step it up!
*If you want to be included in the weekly prize draws, make sure to add your email address when you report your reading!*
Not a fan of Percy Jackson?
That's okay! You can still keep track of your reading and compete for prizes, which include a free library card (one year membership). We'll sort you into a Cabin at random, so that your reading can still help others competing for the Camp Trophy!
