Who? What? How?
FOSLL: Who are they?

The Friends of the Sylvan Lake Library, otherwise known as FOSLL, is an independent, charitable foundation established under Alberta's Society Act for the purpose of helping the Sylvan Lake Municipal Library.

Who are they REALLY?

They are a talented, creative and hardworking group of volunteers who have a lot of fun working to promote the library within the community.

What do they do?

They promote the library by hosting fabulous special events, they volunteer in a variety of ways when the library or its board needs a helping hand with a program or project, and they fundraise for to purchase special items which fall beyond the scope of the library budget.

Some FOSSL funded items so far have included:

bullet an outdoor book return bullet large print books bullet audiobooks bullet comfortable armchairs

What EXACTLY do they do?

FOSSL puts on a used booksale each summer on the beach in Sylvan Lake. They have hosted art sales and cheesecake socials, Christmas teas, a celtic ceilidh (which is just a big old celtic party!), improvisational theatre, folk and jazz music.

How can you help?

bullet Participate in the special events FOSLL hosts each year.

bullet Become a FOSLL by helping out a special event or sitting on the FOSLL board. Email us for more information.

bullet Encourage friends and associates to support the Sylvan Lake Municipal Library by becoming members and enjoying the many benefits of a vibrant library within the community.
